What is stress? At times it so happens in life that one becomes ill in the process of recovering from an emotionally taxing experience. One may stay composed, firm and brave enough throughout the experience but just as the trauma is about to end, one succumbs to an ailment. In today's world of cut- throat competition, factors like relationship demands, professional demands, traumatic experiences, financial problems and environmental factors can cause stress in a person's life. What are the symptoms of stress? The symptoms of stress can be classified as physical or psychological. Physical symptoms of stress: It is generally perceived that stress is more of a psychological phenomenon and it doesn't have any physical symptoms. But it should not be forgotten that mind is a part of the body and that an ill mind makes the body also ill. An ill mind blocks the supply of free energy and positive attitude from the body and can be detected by symptoms like: * Aching muscles * Stomach problems * Diarrhea * Constipation * Cramps * Fatigue
Psychological symptoms of stress: The psychological symptoms of stress include: * Depression, spontaneous crying, despair and hopelessness * Anxiety * Panic attacks * Fearfulness * Compulsive and obsessive behaviors * Feeling out of control * Irritability, angry and resentment * Emotional numbness * Withdrawal from normal routine and relationships Stress is generally passed on from one generation to another. Children of stressed parents have a higher risk of being stressed out and tensed at encountering difficult and challenging situations. But it is also possible that such children learn to take such challenges, face them boldly and emerge as winners.
